Begin your journey to becoming a registered real estate agent in Ontario with our Real Estate Salesperson Program. Developed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), Ontario’s regulator of real estate services, this comprehensive program and provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to succeed in real estate. The program consists of two distinct phases:
- Pre-Registration Phase
- Post-Registration Phase
Both phases are designed to meet RECO’s mandatory education standards for aspiring real estate professionals in Ontario.

Program Path
Phase 1: Pre-Registration
The first step for individuals aiming to become a registered real estate salesperson in Ontario is completing a structured education program approved by RECO. This foundational program features five online courses and two interactive simulation sessions, each followed by a theory-based exam. Learners develop a strong grasp of industry practices, regulatory responsibilities, and the intricacies involved in both residential and commercial property transactions.
Pre-Registration Courses:
Courses must be completed in sequence; learners cannot register for the next course until successful exam completion has been verified.

Exams: Each course concludes with an exam administered by RECO’s designated examination provider, Meazure Learning. An exam fee in the amount of $120 is payable to Meazure Learning at the time of each exam registration.
After successfully completing this pre-registration phase, learners are eligible to apply for registration with RECO. From the time pre-registration program is completed, individuals have 12 months to submit an application to register as a real estate agent with RECO.

Phase 2: Post-Registration
After becoming registered with RECO, learners proceed to the post-registration phase of the Real Estate Salesperson Program which includes one mandatory course and two elective courses based on individual career interests.

Program Duration
- Pre-Registration: Must be completed within 24 months of program start
- Post-Registration: Must be completed within 24 months of registration with RECO
Application Process with Algonquin College
Applicants must meet the specific admission requirements in order to enrol in the Real Estate Salesperson Program. Applications will be accepted online, with registration opening July 1, 2025.
Admission Requirements:
- Provide acceptable proof of successful completion of one of the following*:
- Canadian or U.S. Secondary School Diploma;
- General Education Diploma (GED), Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC), or equivalent;
- International credentials assessed as equivalent by World Education Services (WES) or International Credential Assessment Services of Canada (ICAS)
- Meet the minimum English language proficiency requirements (Grade 12 English)

Post-Registration Program Admissions:
In addition to the above, to register in the post-registration program, applicants must:

- Be registered with RECO as a salesperson
