Good data starts with good questionnaire design!

Learn how to collect richer insights and deliver a better survey experience by enhancing your research instruments.

This course will teach participants to design, test and program effective online surveys.

This course has been developed in partnership with Public Services and Procurement Canada and is taught by leading industry practitioners who also teach at Algonquin College.

The course will be delivered in English with simultaneous translation services available in French.

In order to successfully complete the course, participants must:

  • attend 9 hours of virtual instructor-led training (three 3-hour sessions)
  • work on practical tasks in-class (possibly in groups)

Prerequisites

Who Should Attend

This course will be engaging and useful for participants with a wide variety of backgrounds and levels of expertise. Whether your interest is in public opinion research, communications, economics, statistics or other disciplines, this course is intended to help you get better at designing online questionnaires.

What You’ll Learn

Through applied exercises and instructor-led discussions, participants will be able to:

  • gain understanding of the survey process, including: basic concepts, principles, and practices of questionnaire design for the collection of useful and meaningful data
  • tell the difference between better and worse types of survey questions, find and evaluate existing questions on different topics, and
  • construct and test questionnaires for their own needs
