It is essential to learn how to read, speak and comprehend the French language in order to succeed in a bilingual workplace.

There are six levels of proficiency in Algonquin College French as a Second Language program. Each level complements the other and builds upon previously introduced concepts and vocabulary. French Beginner Level 1 (Pre-A)

Get started on your French as a Second Language journey with this introductory course.

French Beginner Level 2 (Pre-A)

In this second level course, learn to describe and react to different situations in real life using present, past, and future tenses.

French Intermediate Level 1 (A)

Develop your abilities in listening, reading, writing and speaking French through active participation in a wide range of communication activities.

French Intermediate Level 2 (A)

Broaden your ability to communicate in the past, present and future tenses. The learning activities in this course focus on comparing habits and activities, giving reasons and justifying actions.

French Advanced Level 1 (B)

Develop your French communication in professional situations, discussing and comparing present and past experiences, express your opinions along with conditions and hypotheses.

French Advanced Level 2 (B)

Practice all communication skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) to gain more grammatical control in complex sentences used to augment and reason on complex or unfamiliar topics.

French Proficient Level 1 (C)

This advanced level course focuses on discussing workplace and societal issues to study complex sentences in context.
