In 2014, it launched Tomlinson University to enable employees to pursue college level credit and non-credential learning that is aligned with their specific areas of development.
Insight
ACCT partnered with Tomlinson to provide business skills courses, but more specifically, to bring a certificate program to the workplace. Our experience and relationship with the client ensures that we are able to tailor learning to meet employee needs.
ACCT facilitators recognize that the goal is to enable participants to experience scenarios and challenges that are applicable in their working environment.
Solution
The Fundamentals of Leadership program is a 10-day college-level certificate program that consists of three courses: Effective Communication and Organizational Communication, Leadership Skills and Building a Performance Culture.
This is an interactive, experiential program that encourages learners to apply their acquired skills in the workplace between courses.
Result
More than 200 Tomlinson employees have completed the certificate program since the company’s university was founded.
There is an informal graduation ceremony for each, which the company’s president attends not only to congratulate participants but also to demonstrate the value attached to continuous learning at Tomlinson.
