Client Success Story
Challenge
Founded in Ottawa in 1955, AMBICO has evolved into a world class, industry-leading manufacturer of specialized doors, frames and windows. But that success has not come easily.
The company needs more than conventional skill sets for the high performance products it designs and builds. That presents a continuing challenge. AMBICO realized that it needed a higher level of execution in its hiring and training practices.
Insight
ACCT supports Algonquin College’s role as the lead partner in a coalition of Eastern Ontario colleges working together to deliver provincially funded, sector-based training and development programs that align workforce skills with business needs.
The five-college consortium’s initial focus was on delivering training to employers and job seekers in the steel and aluminum manufacturing and metal fabrication sectors.
Solution
Through a collaborative approach, ACCT developed and delivered five projects that were priorities for AMBICO, including health and safety training and a customer experience and transactional project management program.
In addition, ACCT produced and delivered online video training for standard operating procedures and production line onboarding and stainless steel door finishing.
Result
AMBICO gained a more consistent onboarding process and, through the funding provided via the college consortium, training resources with a production value beyond what the company could have afforded on its own.
The training and resources provided by ACCT also elevated the company’s appearance as a destination employer offering desirable manufacturing jobs in the Ottawa area.
