Real Estate Training Facilitators

Position Title: Facilitator(s) – Real Estate Training
Location: Remote, preferably in the Ottawa region
Reports To: Program Manager
Position Type: Independent Contractor
Expected Start Date: July 7, on a rolling basis (NOTE: must be available on June 4th to attend a virtual simulation session demo)

Overview

Algonquin College is an approved education provider of the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), Ontario’s regulator of real estate services. Registration for real estate education at Algonquin College enrolment opens on July 1st, with course delivery beginning on July 7th, 2025. Facilitators will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality education to aspiring real estate professionals, ensuring compliance with the RECO standards and fostering an engaging learning environment.

This Statement of Work outlines the scope, responsibilities, and qualifications for independent contractors engaged by Algonquin College to facilitate components of the Real Estate Salesperson Program and/or Real Estate Broker program. Multiple facilitators will be engaged to provide learning support for the residential and/or commercial components of the real estate education programs, including learner support for asynchronous courses, facilitating live simulation sessions, facilitated review sessions, and providing feedback to learners.

Scope of Services

  • Facilitation: Deliver synchronous components of the program including facilitated review sessions (3 hours) and simulation sessions (up to 1-week) using provided guides and materials.
  • Learner Support: Provide coaching and support to learners, addressing their queries and helping them understand course content in asynchronous courses.
  • Content Delivery: Ensure that all program content is delivered accurately and in accordance with RECO guidelines and using RECO materials.
  • Assessment: Evaluate learner performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Algonquin College and RECO policies and directives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with program updates and best practices in education.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate as a registrant with RECO.
    • Minimum of 3 years of commercial real estate experience if facilitating the commercial real estate simulation session.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a broker of record or brokerage manager if facilitating the broker wrap-up session.
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Ontario’s real estate principles and practices, including the Trust in Real Estate Services Act, 2002 (TRESA), the Code of Ethics, and all other relevant legislation.
  • Standing: Must be registered in good standing with RECO.
  • Previous teaching experience in online facilitation and/or adult learning in Real Estate Education is strongly preferred. Completion of an adult learning facilitation course is required.

Onboarding and Training Requirements

  • Onboarding Program: Completion of a facilitator onboarding program, including attending a mandatory simulation demo session the week of June 2nd.
  • Education: Completion of an adult learning facilitation course.
  • Training: Completion of additional training specific to the facilitator’s role may be required.
