About This Course

Practicing all four communication skills is essential to improve understanding and interaction in French. In this advanced course, students practice listening, speaking, reading and grammar through the study of authentic texts, audio recordings and videos tackling crucial current issues from the workplace and today’s society: wellbeing and stress at work, soft skills, ethics, economy, real versus fake news, scientific innovation and more. Through methodical reviews and the study of new material, students consolidate, deepen and broaden their vocabulary and grammatical control. Discussions and debates offer opportunities to express oneself independently, applying complex concepts of the French language to give one’s opinion in detail, justify and nuance it, and build an effective argumentation.

Prerequisites

There are four levels of proficiency in the French as a Second Language Program, and they have more than one section for additional practice. Each level complements the other and builds upon previously introduced concepts and vocabulary. A placement test determines the level of proficiency where you begin.
